Senior Housing Open House Event Information

Marion Goard Senior Event 2019 Feb

Event Overview

Wondering about the future and where the best place for you to live will be?  Are you overwhelmed just thinking about it?  Don't know where to start?

As we age there will come a time when the question arises – “Should I stay in my current home or is it time to move?” The truth is it’s a very personal decision and what’s right for one person or family is rarely right for someone else. For many people, thinking about moving can be overwhelming.  For seniors it can be that much more so.  Too often the end result is simply avoiding the matter until a crisis arises.

My FREE - and fun! - community event is perfect for seniors and their families who wish to learn more about local retirement residences and a variety of other housing options. There will be more than 20 local representatives on hand ready to chat about Burlington retirement residences and other housing options, plus how to how to make a move easier and what to do with all your 'stuff'. Learn about the services that allow seniors to age in place without needing to move, plus important information on how to grow and protect your wealth. In addition, you’ll be able to learn from speakers who will be hosting hourly presentations throughout the day on topics important to seniors and their families.

As a Pivotal Master Accredited Senior Agent (one of only two in the Hamilton-Burlington-Oakville area) my goal is to help seniors make decisions about their home by choice rather than by circumstance and to help them understand what their options really are. The good news is that I'm here to help and you can Lean on Me. Together we'll map out your retirement housing plan that's just right for you.

*** New in 2019 - bring in one piece of jewellery or an antique coin and visit the Estate Concierge table to have your item appraised for value.

Stop by anytime on Monday April 15, 2019 between 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m at the Holiday Inn Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre to have all your Seniors housing questions answered.  We'd love to see you there!

This FREE Seniors Housing Options Expo is being hosted in partnership with Amal Helbah-Dawson (Financial Planner, Investment and Retirement Planning, RBC Royal Bank)

Are you wondering:

Whether all retirement residences are the same?  What makes them different?

What other downsizing options might be suitable for you?

What you need to know about condo living?

Where you can get help if you'd like to stay where you are yet know you need some help to do so.

What it costs to live in a retirement home?

Whether retirements homes are all 'All Inclusive' or are 'A-la-carte' options available?

If there's a way to arrange a short stay to see if you like a particular retirement home?

Who can help you figure out what to do with all your possessions that you've acquired over the years?

If any sort of health care is available in a retirement home or whether a Long Term Care Home is really what you need?

How to determine whether you'll have enough funds to last?

What the process is to secure a room/suite in a retirement home? How soon can you move in?

About a parent that needs some assistance with daily living and what the options are?

What exactly is a reverse mortgage?

Whether staying in your own home and aging in place is a viable option and who can help with that?

How you find out about rental suites?

Whether there are programs or funding available to help modify your current home to make it safe for you?

What Home Share is all about.

Then there's Co-Housing.  This is getting very confusing.  Who can talk to me about this?

Is there a way to access the equity you've built up in your home and use it to help you age in place?

This event is definitely for you!
